Does it cost anything to view a house on the market?

I know open houses are "open to the public" but if a house is for sale and you want to go look at it, do you have to pay a fee to the realtor who is listing the property? Or is it free to look?

No cost to look, although you generally need an agent to show you the property, and they will try and have you sign a contract with them representing you. Its more of a nuisance than anything else, but if you do wind up buying the house, they get part of the comission (which the seller pays, not the buyer).
