How effective are Open Houses?

I’ve been looking for a realtor to list my house. Some say that they don’t do open houses because they only account for 2% of home sales.

What I’m wondering is, if whether open houses are effective during the first couple of weeks of listing a house, and then become less effective after that. Although open houses may indeed only account for 2% of home sales, it may be that they account for a much higher % of those houses sold within the first couple of weeks of listing.

Why don’t some realtors want to do open houses?

Open houses serve only a lazy REALTOR, and nosy neighbors. Potential listings come from people wanting to interview REALTORS at OPEN HOUSES. Neighbors want to know how and what you’ve done to the place, and how it compares to their own home for value.
    Your best REALTOR:
(1)Is one that prospects daily, to their sphere of influence (soi) and then either door to door or cold calling.
(2)Knows the laws and necessary paperwork to keep your cost down and you out of trouble.
